How to do the Intarsia technique:

Instructions for intarsia will often tell you to twist yarns where the colors change, but that’s misleading. When it’s time to switch from color A to color B, drop color A and bring the strand of the new color (B) from under strand A and begin knitting with B. The B strand will wrap around the strand of color A to prevent a hole from forming.

(RS) With Color A (teal) work across to where the color changes, drop Color A (teal) and pick up Color B (gray) from behind Color A wrapping it around Color A. Continue working across in Color B (gray).

(WS) With Color A (gray) work across to where the color changes, drop Color A (gray) and pick up Color B (teal) from behind Color A wrapping it around Color A. Continue working across in Color B (teal).

This is what intarsia looks like from the RS.
