Felt Embelishments:
Renaissance not only makes wonderful knit garments, it also felts beautifully. Instead of buying felt to make your flowers and circles, try making your own.
Gauge (before felting): 18sts and 24 rows = 4” in Stockinette Stitch with US size 8 (5 mm) needles.
Knit Felt Flower Panels: (2 flowers can be cut from each panel)
CO 28 sts on US size 8 (5 mm) needle and work in St st until piece measures 6½”, end WS row. BO all sts
Knit Felt Circle Panels: (6 circles can be cut from each panel)
CO 28 sts on US size 8 (5 mm) needles and work in St st until piece measures 5”, end WS row. BO all sts.
Make as many panels as needed to get the number of flowers and circles that you would like.
Machine or hand felt until the fabric is firm and the stitches are no longer visible. Let dry.
Cut out flower and circle stencils provided in the Girls Floral Poncho pattern. Trace stencil onto WS of felted piece and then cut out the felt shapes.
