Issue 504 • Crochet Basket Recipe
This week's project is more of a recipe than a pattern. Customizable to any circumference and height you want, these baskets are useful for SO many purposes. Crocheting a basket is probably easier than you think and suitable for beginners – you only need to know how to single crochet. Hanako, our cotton linen worsted weight, works perfectly.

50% Cotton, 50% Linen
- 5 sts/inch on US 7 (4.5 mm) needle
- 220 yards/100 gram hank
- machine wash gentle, dry flat
Cotton and Linen combine for a summery yarn in a popular worsted weight. The linen fiber has a subtle sheen and adds body; cotton adds stitch definition and softness. This yarn gets even softer the more it’s worn and the light and vibrant palette is perfect for warm weather wear. The generous yardage per hank makes Hanako a good value.
Also in Hanako, the Floreal cardigan is part of the Hanako pattern collection available on Ravelry. Rows of eyelets cover this versatile and easy to knit drop shoulder cardigan designed by Tonia Barry. Wear open at the front as shown or close with a pin, belt or buttons, using the edge eyelets as buttonholes.
