Issue 403 – Sprout Cardigan

Though fall and winter are generally thought to be the season for knitting, summer knitting has its advantages. Holiday, and vacation time away from work, provide longer uninterrupted stretches of time to concentrate on a new or challenging project. Summer knitting provides an opportunity to slow down and relax for a few minutes while sitting by the pool, on the beach, or on the porch. For sports fans, the pace of a baseball game is more conducive to knitting than football or hockey. Knitting on the go is easier too – without coats, gloves and winter layers to bring with you, all you need to do is grab your knitting bag. And summer is the perfect time to get a new fall sweater on the needles so it will be ready to wear when the season arrives.
