Classic Elite Yarns

Issue 389 – Elephant Hat

Babies are always being born. If not now, then at some point, probably soon, you'll be the friend, neighbor, aunt, cousin, mother or grandmother of a new baby. And quick-to-knit hats are the perfect handknit gift for a new little one. Easier to fit than a sweater, all new moms appreciate a cute little hat.

Stranded colorwork elephants parade around this adorable little hat knit in Cerro and Canyon, designed by Cheryl Beckerich. Cheryl designs for adults too – click here to see the Tuckernuck cardigan she designed for our March book, Along the Shore, in Sprout.

The Yarn

85% pima cotton • 15% alpaca

Cerro is a blend of soft pima cotton and alpaca that creates a yarn with drape and excellent stitch definition. These summery hues are complemented by Cerro’s undyed cousin, MountainTop Canyon.
