Issue 349 – Mesa Pillow

From a distance it looks like a wide band of lace, but knitters will immediately recognize the Fair Isle motif that encircles this pillow. Susan chose two colors of Mesa and designed this pillow as part of CEY's summer of home decoration designs. Worked in the round, it is a good project for practicing your stranded colorwork skills. The tone on tone dye effect of Mesa adds depth and interest to colorwork. There are plenty of color combinations to choose from, have a look below.

The Yarn

100% cotton

Mesa, a soft and sumptuous 100% cotton with a tone on tone kettle dyed effect, is available in coordinating sunbaked colors. Outstanding stitch definition makes Mesa perfect for cables, lace and or just plain stockinette. Projects worked in Mesa are sure to become some of your favorites – like a pair of faded jeans that fits just right.

A Sunbaked Palette

Each color the CEY family of outstanding yarns is carefully chosen. Susan considers seasonal color trends and each yarn's existing palette when choosing new shades. Her knack for creating harmonious palettes always amazes me – we have a color and a palette for everyone.

Mesa is a beautiful example of Susan's work. It takes extra care to make the tone on tone shades just right – hues that are too dark or too light diminish the kettle dyed effect. The 17 coordinating shades make colorwork so tempting because they pair so nicely with each other. See what I mean?
