Issue 348 – Chevron Eyelet Scarves

These scarves are knit from the same Chevron Eyelet pattern, both use lightweight yarns and both use less than 100 grams of yarn. However, that's where their similarities end. The scarf on the left is knit in brand new Villa, a baby alpaca/bamboo yarn with alluring drape and silky softness. The Alpaca Sox version (right) is squishy, has a slight alpaca halo and is a welcome layer of insulation wherever there is a chill.

Read on to learn more about both of these trans-seasonal yarns and to see the newest designs that feature them.

The Yarn

Villa
70% Baby Alpaca, 30% Bamboo

Alpaca Sox
60% Alpaca, 20% Merino, 20% Nylon

Brand new Villa debuts in eight saturated shades, complementing the undyed shades of MountainTop Vail. The baby alpaca and bamboo blend has exceptional drape and softness that makes it a yarn you'll want to wear next to your skin.

Alpaca Sox isn't just for socks! This blend also makes cozy scarves, wraps, shawls and even lightweight garments. The alpaca provides warmth and softness, the merino adds elasticity and cushion, and a little nylon lends durability. Alpaca Sox comes in both kettle dyed and handpainted shades.

All Seasons – designs for year-round wear

Our newest collection All Seasons features pieces in lightweight yarns for warm weather that will become layering staples in the cool weather. The collection also include designs in unique fiber blends that are both warm and airy for year-round wear (read more about those designs here).

The top row of designs (left to right) Dancette, Fortune and Beauteous are each knit Villa, the colorful new cousin of MountainTop Vail. The two yarns are perfectly interchangeable and mixable, as you can see in Dancette: the cowls use a combination of both Villa and Vail.

Alpaca Sox also lends itself to beautiful lightweight sweaters and accessories, as shown on the bottom row of designs: (left to right) Catawampus, Paramount and Flying Colors Wrap.
