Classic Elite Yarns

Issue 319 – One-Skein Chateau Scarves

The allure of a one-skein project can be strong: it's a small yarn investment, it's a wonderful way to sample a new yarn, and it can help us use the odd balls in our stash. Personally, I love to pepper my accessory shelf with brightly-colored, small projects to compliment my otherwise neutral wardrobe.

This week we present two simple one-hank scarves from Susan. They are shown in Chateau but are equally suited for Chalet. Soft and cozy, they'll both work up quickly – perfect for last-minute gifts or an accessory to complete your holiday party outfit.

The Yarn

70% Baby Alpaca • 30% Bamboo

MountainTop Chalet's colorful cousin, Chateau is the same super-soft baby alpaca/bamboo blend with a chainette construction. It knits up quickly, which is perfect for last-minute holiday gifts. Any pattern written for Chalet will knit-up just as beautifully in Chateau. Look for Chateau at your LYS in eight vibrant, heathery colors.

More Quick Knits

In the spirit of the Portraits book, created with holiday knitting in mind, we have been busy choosing quick-knitting hits from our pattern archive and making them available for PDF download. Each of the patterns was originally published in our pattern books. Now, we're excited to revisit them and offer the PDF patterns.

The top row of designs were originally published in Alpaca Stories and each project requires just one hank (left to right): Alpaca Sox Legwarmers, Fresco Mitts and Avery Socks knit in Alpaca Sox.

The second row of designs require more yarn, but their quick-to-knit gauges make them good choices for last-minute holiday knitting if you are determined to finish a sweater: the Montera Embroidered Button Jacket originally published in Winter Whimsey, the Montera Lace Pullover from Autumn, Book 1, and the La Gran Cowl Pullover from Saturday Afternoon.

As always, you can find these and many other PDF patterns to download in our Ravelry store and our Patternfish store.
