Classic Elite Yarns

Issue 315 – Easy Ava Mitts

Classic Elite Yarns is changing the way it presents new designs and patterns. Beginning in November 2013, we will introduce a new pattern collection every month (instead of twice yearly). Each month will feature nine or more fresh designs in a variety of season-appropriate yarns. Each month's collection will be available in a printed book, an eBook or individually as PDF downloads.

We will continue to bring you a new pattern each week in the Web-Letter. This week we have an easy to knit pair of versatile fingerless mitts – with a bit of glitz thanks to the yarn Ava. Ava is a wool blend that, despite its metallic component, is incredibly soft and has great stitch definition. The finished mitts have a subtle sparkle that doesn't overpower the design.

Make sure to check in with our website November 1st to view all that's new for November.

The Yarn

86% Wool, 9% Viscose, 5% Metallized Polyester

Introduced this fall, Ava is a DK weight merino that is plied with a strand of sparkle. The merino gives the yarn structure and warmth. Perfect for simple to complex patterns, Ava has the right amount of glitz - enough to make any item dressy, but not so much that you couldn't wear it every day.

Knitting Ahead for the Holidays

If you knit gifts, then you might already know the holidays are just around the corner. In our debut November collection, we'll focus on quick-knits with sweaters in bulky yarns and feminine accessories that you can finish in time for gifting. We'll visit that theme in the weeks to come, discussing our new designs in detail.

In the meantime, here are a few favorite designs from the past that make lovely gifts without taking too long to knit.
