Issue 314 – Must Have Wrap in Vail

For some time, I have wanted to make a wrap for myself that would be a timeless wardrobe workhorse. I had a laundry list of requirements in mind. First it had to be lightweight; second, the color had to be neutral to work with almost anything; and last but not least, it had to be elegantly simple.

I have had a love affair with Vail since it arrived on the scene. So it was the perfect yarn for this wrap, both for its drape and color palette. I also always like to have a project on the needles for those times when I just want to knit without thinking, and this design fills that need. I plan to wear it both as a wrap or a scarf and am sure that I will be wearing it often.

The Yarn

70% Baby Alpaca • 30% Bamboo

Like its namesake, Vail is pure luxury; unlike its namesake, it won't cost you a fortune! A light fingering designed to be used for garments and accessories, Vail is 70% baby alpaca and 30% bamboo viscose. The bamboo gives it the most delicate luster and drape, while the alpaca contributes an ethereal softness.

More lightweight designs to love.

Vail is one of our lightest yarns. It creates a beautiful fabric that is cozy to wrap up in and can also be folded and stashed away in your purse. We have new patterns for Vail this fall, published in Avant Garde. Click the image below to learn more.
