Issue 304 – Silky Alpaca Lace Ruffle Tank

I am a little bit of a girly-girl, but I would like to think I am a little bit of a refined girly-girl. Not too many ruffles or glitter at the same time.

That is why I love this tank from Tonia Barry. The soft v-neck is framed with a ruffle that won't overpower you. Tonia added just a little bit of oomph on one side of the hem with a slit and a few more ruffles. Made from Silky Alpaca Lace doubled, it can be worn with jeans, skirts or even under a suit jacket.

The Yarn

Silky Alpaca Lace
70% alpaca, 30% silk

Silky Alpaca Lace is a beautiful blend of fibers spun into a gossamer yarn that knits amazing lightweight pieces. The alpaca in this yarn provides warmth and a soft halo, while the silk adds a subtle sheen to the knitted stitches. Worked with larger needles, Silky Alpaca Lace makes lovely, light-as-air shawls, garments and accessories.

One of the wonderful things about tried-and-true yarns is the pattern support. Designers have imagined Silky Alpaca Lace in many different ways, from sweaters to airy scarves, held singled or doubled. With 440 yards on each ball, many projects take just one or two balls but you will still get hours and hours of knitting time.
