Issue 293 – Lace Edged Hand Towel

This week’s pattern by Amy Loberg is a beautiful little hand towel in organic Seedling that is great for a guest bathroom but is also perfect for everyday use. It would also make a great gift with a personal touch for housewarmings or wedding showers.

The Yarn

100% organic cotton

Part of the Verde Collection of environmentally conscious yarns, Seedling is a machine washable organic cotton in both solid and handpainted colors. This yarn has the same wonderful texture and softness as Sprout but in a lighter weight. Seedling's organic fiber is more robust and less stressed by chemicals than non-organic cotton, which increases its absorbency and color intensity.

From 9221 Plum Island – more designs in Seedling

Seedling is among the lightest, softest cottons available because the fiber is mostly unplied. The yarn's structure lets you work textured stitches with beautiful results.

(Clockwise from the top left) Emerson Rocks is a cardigan with a simple eyelet stitch and short garter stitch sleeves and edges; Stage Island, shown in two color combinations, is a wide neck pullover with stripes and pockets; Sandy Point is a triangular shawl worked from the picot edge up to the top; Great Bay is a drop shoulder pullover in an elegant all-over lace stitch with exposed seams.
