Issue 288 – Mesa Cowl

This simple cowl beautifully shows the tone on tone dye effect of Mesa. The easy-to-work mesh stitch looks equally good on both right and wrong sides. The pattern is easily adaptable to any width or circumference you like. The cast on and bind off edges tend to roll block to measurements if you want the edges to remain flat.

The Yarn

100% cotton

Mesa, a soft and sumptuous 100% cotton with tone on tone kettle dyed effect, is available in 14 coordinating sunbaked colors. Outstanding stitch definition makes Mesa perfect for cables, lace and or just plain stockinette. With a gauge of 4½ stitches per inch and 85 yards on each ball, an average sweater can be knit with only 9 balls. Projects worked in Mesa are sure to become some of your favorites like a pair of faded jeans that fit just right.

Introducing Mesa with four fresh patterns

Mesa is the debute pattern booklet featuring the yarn of the same name. The four new patterns highlight the yarn's coordinating pallette in a range of stitches and textures.

Leona is a wrap that is worked in one piece with a striped edge in a checkerboard pattern; Larkspur is a top with buttons at center back and a gentlly scallop edge in chevron stripes; Rosamond is V-neck tee with twisted rib panel on the center back and front; Pear Blossom is a small bag worked from the top down with a scalloped top and ribbed sides.

Look for the Mesa pattern booklet at your LYS or purchase the patterns online.
