Issue 238 – Camellia in Silky Alpaca Lace

I love red as an accent color. Its the perfect addition in the winter months, when things need a bit of perking up, and it lends a little gravitas to the flashy palette of summer. It seems to go with everything! This weeks pattern, Camellia, is a great example of adding just a splash of color to your wardrobe.

The shawl design, by Meg Myers, captures the beauty of Silky Alpaca Lace and enhances it with a delicately beaded border. Although any of the 36 available colors of Silky Alpaca Lace could capture your imagination, I especially like Garnet and its one of our Stitch Red colorways. Read more about this important heart health initiative here, and get on 2012s red bandwagon!

The Yarn:

Silky Alpaca Lace
70% Alpaca • 30% Silk

Silky Alpaca Lace is a beautiful blend of fibers, spun into a gossamer yarn that knits into amazing lightweight pieces. The alpaca in this yarn provides warmth and a soft halo, the silk adds a subtle sheen to the knitted stitches. Worked in lace with larger needles, Silky Alpaca Lace makes lovely, light-as-air shawls, garments and accessories.
