The Story:
Pastels. Ice-cream colors strawberry, pistachio, vanilla. A summer garden in full bloom. Monet’s Water Lilies. These are the inspirations for this light and lovely summery top. Loosely knit for freshness, this classic will see you through spring, summer and fall (even winter in warmer climates).
Firefly is a warm-weather yarn with a subtle sheen and wonderful hand. The juxtaposition of the linen with a light-catching sheen gives it a distinctly feminine look. This piece is knit in the round, from the top down, with raglan shaping. The yoke is worked in broken rib while the body is a textured pattern of seed stitch and stockinette stitch. A combination of wide color blocks and narrow stripes keep it interesting.
The bottom border has stripes of alternating stockinette stitch and reverse stockinette stitch, forming welts of different colors. An I-Cord is tied to ruche the welts into soft folds at each side. (The I-Cord is easily removed if not wanted.) Sleeves are ¾ length and also feature the striped welt border. The neckline is trimmed with a delicate picot edging, adding a touch of elegance to this pretty, easy-to-wear top.
