The Story:
Inspired by Chelsea’s knitting resolutions on the CEY blog; this year I challenged myself to complete 11 sweaters in 2011. My intention was (and still is) to try different shoulder and sleeve styles but after #3 it was time for a break from wooly long-sleeved sweaters. This Cricket Tank was my #4 and a very welcome break from big projects.
Knitting with Cricket made me excited for spring all over again. The crispness of the yarn is refreshing; it makes the garter diamond pattern pop. After completing the bottom pattern, the tank is worked in circular stockinette with waist and bust shaping at the sides. It is finished with a simple i-cord bind off and straps.
Since the straps are knit and added last, you can make them just the right length and style. For interest I added three Josephine knots in the back, giving the top a racerback look. With just enough i-cord, the strap possibilities are endless try searching for “knots” online and add another skill to your knitting arsenal!
The Yarn:

Cricket
60% cotton, 40% linen
Cricket is made of cotton and linen plies wrapped around each other, which gives the yarn a tweedy effect rarely found in a summer yarn. The subtle color variations give pieces depth. The best qualities of cotton and linen shine in Cricket, which has both drape and softness. Available in 12 colors ranging from muted pastels to bold brights.
