Web-Letter, Issue 185 – Spring 2011

Like crocus buds peeking their heads out of the still-frozen soil here in the Northeast, we are proud to present our Spring 2011 Collection. All 13 booklets are bursting with energy: lace patterns, vibrant colors, new silhouettes.

A flip through the covers alone make this winter-weary heart yearn for the beach. Head over to the CEY blog to see behind-the-scene photos and hear about the evolution of the Spring Collection from Creative Director, Susan Mills. We envy our neighbors in warmer climates who get to knit like this every day!

The Yarns:

The people have spoken, and we listened! We released two new yarns this season, Cricket and Seedling, with self titled booklets to support them.

Cricket yarn   Cricket pattern booklet cover   Christie

Cricket has an almost tweedy effect, with cotton and linen plies wrapped around each other. The best qualities of both fibers shine in Cricket, which has both drape and softness. Christie, a seed stitch cap sleeve cardigan, is on my short list for must-make projects.

Seedling pattern booklet cover   Cormorant   Dunlin

Seedling is the little sister to the incredibly popular Sprout and also is machine washable. You'll find its smaller gauge makes textures really pop. Spun with 100% organic cotton, Seedling is our newest addition to the Verde Collection.

Cormorant is an adorable vest, appropriate for a wide range of ages and personal styles. We photographed it over a button-down, but I would love it over a tee shirt just as much. Dunlin's ribbing around the waist and arms create a perfect fit; take advantage of the flattering details and knit it with more negative ease.

The Booklets:

High Seas pattern booklet cover    Home Sweet Home pattern booklet cover    Wee Ones pattern booklet cover

Accessories are always a hit, and we've responded with High Seas, our booklet of small knits in seven yarns. Our cover garment, Parkhurst, a dramatic triangular shawl in with alternating stockinette and lace panels in contrasting colors, has garnered some major attention. We've also released Home Sweet Home and Wee Ones, two seasonal booklets featuring home accessories and baby knits.

If crochet is your passion, we have some treats for you in our Spring Collection this year! Beautify your home with our Granny Square throw or crocheted mat, both in our home accessories booklet, Home Sweet Home. Shot in a stunning greenhouse in Massachusetts, the bright and cheerful photos carried us through Lowell's snowiest days and reminded us that summer is just a few short months away.

Babies and handknits go together like peanut butter and jelly, so our new pattern booklet Wee Ones was a no-brainer! This booklet features thirteen easy-to-knit projects, from clothing to toys, for boys and girls up to size 24 months in Seedling, Solstice, Cotton BamBoo, Katydid and Sprout.
