Web-Letter, Issue 154 – Liberty Wool Hats

It's not surprising that hats are one of the most popular knit projects. Without a large investment of knitting time, you can quickly have a finished project, ready for use by knitters and non-knitters alike. Whether for warmth or purely decoration, hats are easy to fit and a great use for small amounts of yarn. Machine washable Liberty Wool is the perfect choice for a hat that will keep the wearer warm for years to come. For an easy-to-knit tam in child and adult sizes, be sure to view our Liberty Wool pattern book.

The Story:

This week's pattern is the most basic of hat formulas: all knitting, with no purling, worked evenly in-the-round and decreased at the top to form the crown. A blank canvas on which to play with color;  by adding stripes or a fair isle panel, you can customize your hat to be one-of-a-kind. If the rolled edge doesn't suit you, work the first 2 inches in knit 1/purl 1 rib.

-- Susan

The Yarn:

Liberty Wool
100% washable wool

A super-soft, washable wool with 12 solid colors and four prints. Liberty Wool is the solution for easy-care projects. At 5 sts per inch, this yarn knits up quickly and has a balanced twist that makes all stitch combinations pop. Liberty Wool’s four prints’ names truly represent their colors--Sunset, Blue Twilight, Sunrise and Cloudy Dawn. Liberty Wool is also available in a range of solid colors, perfect for when you want your stitches to be the focus of your project, as with the two hat patterns in this week’s Web-Letter.
