Web-Letter, Issue 150 – Classic Silk Mayfaire Camisole

The dog days of summer are upon us and Corrina Ferguson's Mayfaire Camisole in Classic Silk is the perfect knit top to wear on the warmest of days. It will also look great layered over a tee or under a jacket in the cooler days to come.

The Story:

Mayfaire Camisole
By Corrina Ferguson

This simple summer camisole is edged on the bottom by a lovely plantation lace pattern which scallops nicely all by itself. The waist shaping is full fashioned—perfect to show off an hourglass figure. The top is easily adjustable to your specific measurements, as each ten stitch repeat of the plantation lace adds two inches of width to the bottom edging. Worked up in Classic Silk, it is the perfect summer staple—lovely on its own or fancy enough to wear under a shawl or jacket on a cooler day.

The Yarn:

Classic Silk
50% cotton, 30% silk, 20% nylon

Soft and lofty, Classic Silk is a wonderful blend of cotton, silk, and nylon—the luxurious feel and look of silk with the softness of cotton and the strength of nylon. Each fiber takes the dye differently, resulting in a heathered dye effect. It knits up at a gauge of 5 sts to the inch on size US 6 (4 mm) needles.

Classic Silk comes in a gorgeous palette of 30 colors.

The Stitches:

The shaping for waist and bust is worked with paired decreases and increases mirror imaging each other.

The decreases are worked with ssk (left leaning decrease) and k2tog (right leaning decrease).

See a tutorial for mirrored decreasing.

The increases  mirror image each other by working  make 1 right (m1-r) and make 1 left (m1 l).

See a tutorial for mirrored increasing.
