The Story:
From Nichole: This neck warmer design emerged one night from a dream. Often when I am working on a design in my waking hours, I will dream about a design that is completely unrelated. Some of these *dream designs* are extremely vivid and I know will stay with me until they are turned into an actual pattern. This little neck warmer has been with me for some time. From dream to swatch there are always changes, many of which are dictated by the chosen yarn.
I love the way Classic Elite's Soft Linen creates a delicate and summery effect, while still providing structure to this little neck warmer. Add buttons or wear it with a shawl stick on a cool summer evening.

The Yarn:

Soft Linen
35% linen, 35% wool, 30% baby alpaca
Soft Linen, a smooth DK weight yarn in a blend of linen, wool and alpaca, is the perfect year round yarn. It works equally well for lace, colorwork or textures. Both soft and sturdy, pieces worked in Soft Linen will hold their shape, while remaining soft to the touch. Available in a palette of 19 sophisticated colors.
The Stitches:
Alternating panels of texture and openwork combine to great effect. The openwork stitch is a one row repeatwith every row the same you won't lose your place in the stitch pattern. And the textured stitch is an easily remembered 4-row repeat. Since the gauge and needle size used for each of the stitch patterns is different, a single transition row is worked between patterns to change the stitch count. Once you get started you'll need only look at the instructions to work the transition rows.
